Ardudwy Challenge
Based very loosely around an orienteering score event with several twists.
Either a long day 07:00 to 18.30 or two days with more problems added 0900 –1700. Bare in mind Two days will cost more time and money but allow us to be more creative.
Our health and safety record is excellent we have the intrest your participants at the absolute priority.
The risk assessment procedure starts in the very early stages of design and is embedded in the whole process to ensure a safe, enjoyable yet challenging adventure in Snowdonia for all people involved.
Exapmple challenge day
Points scored by visiting manned and un-manned controls as well as completing various activities. All teams will start and finish at Crown Lodge in Harlech all teams will complete as many tasks as possible.
Like all score events to complete everything and visit all points will take a super fit team on motorbikes! - Be warned planning your route to success is key!
Limited number of teams will be able to take part at each location a booking in system will be run at Crown Lodge. (Full details to follow) Safety zones are as below – teams must stay in these zones – maps will be provided.
• A local Cliff – walk up to the upper tier – there is an option to climb and abseil.
• Crown Lodge and woods – team challenges. Various depending on ability teams choose , also archery task at local field can be included.
• Northern Rhinogs – walk up the summit and back around down to A farm (a shuttle bus will be used from the farm)
• Mine exploreloration and answers a quiz.
Upper Tier Running 2 climbs and 2 abseils all day. Teams complete any one climb or abseil. Also a walking knowledge quiz will be given here while teams wait.
Crown Lodge Orienteering score event of sort clip as many controls as possible in one hour. (We require this area mapping soon any way)
Rhinog. Walk or cycle to Start car park (Bikes may be hired for 100 points per team one way journey) 4 manned checkpoints so we check teams progress up and down again – so we do not loose any one
CP4 Summit 1000 points CP3 Shoulder at 400 points CP2 Track path junction 400 points CP1 Car park iat start points
Teams receive vouchers at Cp’s and 1000 at summit.
The mine – under ground for 40 mins (no pen or paper allowed memory only) find and read information boards which give information about the mine history, the then return to the surface and answer a history quiz.
Penalties can be deducted for arriving late e.g. 5 point each minute or part of.
To complete everything we estimate around 20 hours you will have 11.5 hours
Teams are observed by event staff and points can be awarded for a range of pre agreed criteria including:
- Team work
- Leadership
- Time management
- Problem solving
- Task completion
