Justification 

 The course is designed to increase performance and efficiency by raising awareness of individuals to their capabilities.

Maximize the output of the most valuable recourse in
your organization ‘the people’.

Effective management teams are the driving force behind
successful companies. Ask your self this:

  • Do all your management personnel work effectively as a team?  
  • Do they know each others skills as well as they think?
  • Do they use each other to increase their own performance in the best
  • way possible?
  • Are decision making errors avoided by good procedures?

Adventure activities on a challenge by choice basis, with team exercises around the grounds of Coleg Harlechs Crown Lodge will seek to strengthen group cohesiveness.

In addition activities within the Snowdonia National Park will challenge and motivate individual group members. The activates are used as a means of analysing and consolidating group interactions.

Which means of analysis?

We will work with you and your team members to provide you with a background on Group Process, Group Decision making and Group Action. Provide a basic personality profile of clients, through the use of Eysenck Personality Inventory.

Analyses of Groupthink, this is why organisations can make ill informed decisions or “How not to run a company”. This will include collective rationalization, out-group stereotyping, illusion of unanimity, self appointed mind guards, incomplete analyses of decision. Includes here will be how to avoid groupthink.

A profile of a teams individual roles as conceptualised by Belbin. Including individual identification of role such as plant, co-ordinator, shaper, monitor evaluator etc. Most and least preferred role will be established as well as possible alternative roles. The strength and weakness of each role is presented, as well as an investigation into role versatility and role priority. Role interpersonal chemistry is view as a means of identifying compatible and incompatible group composition, linked to effectiveness.

Bales' work in the area of small group leadership is outlined. Interactional process analyses is viewed in light of measuring leadership effectiveness in face to face groups. Leadership style is correlated to task demands giving feedback on types of effective leadership interactions such as Task-Oriented Leadership Measures and Socio-Emotional Leadership Measures.

An overview of leadership and communication is identified leading to different views on leadership investigating such concepts as idiosyncratic credit.
