Mountain Leader Assessment (Summer - £300)
This course is a practical five-day assessment.
Before attending the course candidates must either have completed the summer Mountain Leader training course or been granted exemption from training by the Mountain Leader Training Board.
A typical assessment course outline will look like this:
Itinerary
Day 1 ML assessment
Morning meet, introduction, logbooks and briefing.
- Mountain day with emphasis on micro navigation skills
- Review of home Question paper
Day 2 ML assessment
Leadership discussion
- Mountain day with emphasis on security on steep ground
- Expedition preparation and route planning
Day 3 ML assessment
Out on expedition
- Navigation, leadership and expedition skills
- Night navigation and overnight camp
Day 4 ML assessment
Continue on expedition
- Navigation, leadership and expedition skills
- Overnight camp
Day 5 ML assessment
Return from expedition
- River Crossing
- Individual debriefs
- Course ends approximately 4pm
